Escape room website design service — by an owner, for owners
I'm an escape room owner who builds fast, modern, high-converting websites for other escape room owners. If you'd rather hire an escape room website designer who actually runs rooms than a generic web agency, you're in the right place. Free build for the first five — then $50/month to host it and keep making it better.
Hi, I'm Steve — an escape room owner, like you
My name is Steve Nicoll. For the last five years I've owned and run Escape Rooms Wellington. I started out back in October 2014 with Escape Hour in Edinburgh, then set up Escape Rooms Belfast. That's more than a decade of running escape rooms across three cities and two countries.
I'm not an agency that picked escape rooms out of a hat. I live this business. So when I build your site, I already know what a player is looking for, why they bounce, and what turns a browser into a booking — because I've spent years figuring it out on my own.
Want to see exactly how I work before you talk to me? The entire method is laid out, free, in the build series. If you read even half of it, you'll get a good feel for whether I'm the right person to do this for you.
You get me — and a lot more of my time
I treat your site like my own
I'm constantly watching and improving my own escape room website. Every worthwhile thing I find — a speed win, a better way to show pricing, a higher-converting layout — I'll roll onto your site too.
Personal contact, not a ticket queue
You deal with me directly — far more personal contact than you'd ever get from a normal agency. We get to know each other, and I stay involved long after the site goes live.
I speak escape room
I've run sites through four booking systems — Bookeo, Resova, Booking Phoenix and now Off The Couch — always chasing better tools. You won't have to explain your own industry to me.
A free build for the first five owners
I'm doing this to get the snowball rolling — real sites, real owners, real results. Getting in early is genuinely the best deal I'll ever offer.
Free website build for the first five escape room owners who give me a go. No build fee at all.
After that, $50 USD / month to host your site and keep it maintained and improving.
For my first few clients I'll grandfather that $50 founding rate for as long as you're happy to trust me with your website — even as the price goes up for everyone later.
What I can — and can't — promise
I've always built websites with one aim: get to the top of Google and stay there. But I'll be honest with you — most escape room websites are never going to hit number one, and I'm not going to promise you that they will.
What I will do is build you a site that, in all probability, climbs the rankings over time. Beyond that, it's in the lap of the Google gods, and anyone who guarantees you the top spot is selling you something.
What I can be sure of: you'll get a great-looking, modern, fast website that's built to do one thing — turn the visitors you already have into bookings.
The proof: my own venue's website
Escape Rooms Wellington is a real, trading escape room — four hand-built rooms in central Wellington — and its website is the reference build for everything I do. Dark, cinematic, fast, and ranking #1 for its market, with 4.9-star Google reviews shown above the fold and a sticky “Check Availability” CTA on every page.
It was built with the exact method documented free in the build series — so unlike any agency portfolio, you can inspect every decision behind it. And where the 2026 study of 1,618 escape room sites found a median mobile score of 51 and a median load (LCP) of 9.6 seconds, this build is engineered to beat both by a wide margin.
Your site would be built the same way — and each founding build will be added here, with real before-and-after numbers.

Hiring an escape room website designer — FAQ
How much does an escape room website cost with this service?
There's no build fee for the first five founding owners — after that the service is $50 USD per month, which covers hosting, maintenance and continuous improvement. For comparison, a freelancer build typically costs $800–$5,000 up front plus $100–$400/month maintenance, and niche escape room marketing agencies charge $1,000+/month retainers.
Which booking systems do you work with?
I've personally run my own escape rooms through Bookeo, Resova, Booking Phoenix and Off The Couch, and I've measured how each major booking widget affects site speed across 1,618 escape room websites in the 2026 industry study. Whatever system you use, I'll integrate it the fastest way it can be embedded.
Who owns the domain and the website?
You own your domain — always. It stays registered in your name, so you're never locked in. The site is built, hosted and maintained through my agency while you're a client, and if you ever leave, your domain, content and rankings history go with you.
How is this different from hiring a web agency?
An agency sells you design hours; I sell you the system I use on my own escape room. You deal with me directly rather than a ticket queue, I already know why players bounce and what makes them book, and every improvement I discover on my own site gets rolled onto yours. Agencies also charge 5–20x more.
Do you guarantee a #1 Google ranking?
No — and you should be wary of anyone who does. Most escape room websites will never hit #1, and it's dishonest to promise it. What I build is a site that, in all probability, climbs the rankings over time: fast, technically clean, and structured the way Google rewards. The one thing I can be sure of is a site built to turn the visitors you already have into bookings.
Can I just build it myself instead?
Absolutely — the entire method I use is published free in the build series on this site, all thirteen modules, nothing held back. This service exists for owners who'd rather spend those hours running their rooms. Read the guide first either way; you'll know exactly what you're paying for.
